Robert Half Network Engineer in San Antonio, Texas

Description We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. This position offers a contract employment opportunity in the telecom provider industry. The Network Engineer will be responsible for configuring and installing various network devices and services, conducting network maintenance and system upgrades, and providing troubleshooting support. The role also involves selecting and implementing security tools and policies, liaising with vendors, and other IT personnel for problem resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Configure and install various network devices and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS

• Conduct network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations

• Monitor performance to ensure system availability and reliability, and monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning

• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues

• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure

• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the security team

• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution

• Deploy and troubleshoot Cisco AnyConnect and deploy full Cisco DNA

• Handle the deployment of over 100 Cisco Access Points and the use of Cisco Networking and Cisco Catalyst Switches as part of daily tasks. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role

• Proficiency in Cisco AnyConnect

• Experience with Cisco Networking

• Knowledge of Cisco Access Points

• Proficiency in handling Cisco Catalyst Switches

• Cisco CCNA certification is preferred

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware

• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices

• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols

• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems

• Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources

• Strong analytical skills

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
