Microsoft Corporation Global Contracts Quality Director in San Antonio, Texas

Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. The CO+I, Datacenter business is looking to fill the role of Global Contracts Quality Director . The Contracts Quality director has a role in overseeing and advancing quality assurance onsite in construction projects across regions driving alignment, consistency, and excellence in Quality for General Contractors (GC). This leader will provide strategic vision for GC Quality performance, implement global standards, and foster a culture of accountability in quality management.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement a comprehensive global strategy for GC quality management, ensuring alignment with the organizational goals and industry best practices

  • Establish and enforce global quality standards, processes, and KPI's to ensure consistent performance across regions

  • Monitor regional performance, identify trends, and implement solutions to mitigate risk and enhance outcomes.

Leadership and collaboration

  • Lead a global team of regional directors to ensure seamless execution of quality initiatives

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders (Procurement, Construction Quality, Claims) to align quality expectations with broader project objectives

  • Interface with General Contractors, fostering trust, accountability, and continuous improvement globally.

Risk Management and continuous improvement

  • Analyze global performance data to identify systemic risk and opportunities for improvement

  • Lead the resolution of critical quality issues caused by GC's and developed scalable solutions to prevent reoccurrence

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, leveraging lessons learned across regions to drive excellence

Innovation and Process Optimization

  • Create and standardize general contractor quality management processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and outcomes

  • Evaluate and optimize contractor performance frameworks and quality plans to meet evolving business needs

Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide clear and impactful updates to senior leadership on general contractor quality performance, risks, and mitigation strategies

  • Assess, identify, and develop stakeholder engagement strategies to enhance contractor quality

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 12+ years related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 15+ years related experience

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 15+ years experience working on data center projects.

  • 10+ years project management experience.

  • 10+ years people management experience.

  • Technical experience with data center operations, Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC), or mission critical equipment

  • Knowledge of global construction codes, standards, and practices

Construction Project Management M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $129,200 - $273,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $162,000 - $299,400 per year.
