Job Summary and Qualifications:

Responsible for developing and implementing plans for data collection, analysis, and reporting of medical staff credentialing activities across the Division to include coordination of HCA/Corporate activities related to credentialing.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Develops, implements, and evaluates division wide standardization, utilization, integration and optimization activities related to Medical Staff Credentialing applications and tools by collaborating with Division and Market ITG teams to include Application Development, Physician Services Support and Advanced Clinical Applications.

  2. Oversight in development, execution, personnel and support of education plan, tools and resources division wide related to Credentialing functions and maintains direct responsibility for all tracked expiry dates ensuring providers maintain their required credentials to exercise their clinical privileges within affiliated Hospitals.

  3. Manages Credentialing Specialist(s)/Coordinator(s) and/or assigned staff to include interviewing, work allocation, orientation, training, staff development, problem resolution, evaluating performance, making recommendations for personnel actions, and motivating employees to achieve peak performance. Is responsible for their employee’s output and conduct including meeting department established metrics.

  4. Facilitation and project leadership of credentialing systems at the facility, division and market level.

  5. Works directly with Legal, Senior Leaders, Medical Staff and Board Members to resolve complex issues and requests escalated from the facility, division or market related to Credentialing questions. Acts as designee of MHS Division Asst. Vice President of Medical Staff Services, as assigned, or in the absence of, and works with legal counsel on items related to Medical Staff Bylaws, governance, policies, credentialing, physician health/behavior and/or peer review

  6. Serves as a resource and subject matter expert to the medical staff and administration on performance improvement strategies related to Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging.

  7. Oversees the day to day functions of the facility-based credentialing duties as well as the consolidation of the Credentialing reports presented to the Community Board for approval and resolves issues related to non-compliance. If items are not able to be resolved locally, escalates these issues to the MHS Division Asst. Vice President of Medical Staff Services for resolution.

  3. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself.

  4. Completes other duties as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Health Care Administration, or related field

Experience: 5 years of progressively responsible experience in hospital and/or healthcare credentialing.

Preferred Experience: 2 years management and/or supervisory experience

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

Required: Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or able to obtain such within 12 months of job acceptance.
