Position Description:

Title: Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Location: San Antonio, TX

Job Summary: Vighter is recruiting multiple Certified Registered Nurses Anesthetists (CRNAs) to provide anesthesia services for the Veterans Healthcare System in San Antonio, TX. CRNA care covers the range of Anesthesiology services as would be provided in a state-of-the-art health care facility and the standard of care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently recognized national standards.

Reports to: Program Manager

Principle Accountabilities:

Provide anesthesia services at VAMC clinics/surgeries

Provide comprehensive clinical anesthesiology services to include, but not limited to, patients undergoing cardiac surgery, orthopedic joint replacement, and major vascular, thoracic, neurosurgical, plastic, ENT, urologic, and ophthalmologic surgeries.

Provide clinical care of patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy and diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, electrophysiology, gastrointestinal and radiological suites, to include MRI.

Provide primary coverage for all patients in the surgical intensive care, short stay unit, acute and chronic pain management services, diagnostic trans esophageal echocardiography for medical and surgical patients, and emergency airway management.

Provide consultative services at the patient’s bedside if the patient is not ambulatory

Consult with patients in an outpatient clinic setting if the patient is ambulatory

Direct patient care is estimated at 95% and administrative time 5% Knowledge and Skills:

Must have exceptional customer service skills.

Must be proficient in English (read/write/speak).

Education:

Graduation from a Council on Accreditation accredited Nurse Anesthesia Educational Program and successful completion of the National Certification Examination administered by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).

CRNA must possess a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.

Must possess ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.

Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.

Must be able, with advance notice to work in OR or float to surgical sites within 15 miles.

Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.

Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and carry up to 10 feet.

Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders

Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print

Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear

Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment

Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation

Must undergo urine drug testing

Positions require applicants to be US Citizens, 21 years or older and have a valid RN license.

Must complete criminal background check, urine drug testing, and Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) background check.
