Virology Technical Supervisor

Are you confident in your ability to interpret and analyze results/data and troubleshoot technical issues? Do you meet CLIA's requirements for technical supervisors in high complexity virology laboratories? The Utah Public Health Laboratory is seeking for a detail-oriented individual to fill their role of Virology Technical Supervisor. PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING: To be eligible for this position,you *MUST *meet CLIA's requirements for technical supervisors in high complexity virology laboratories. These requirements can be met in one of the following ways:

  • Have earned a bachelor's degree in a chemical,physical or biological science or medical technology; and at least 4 years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing within microbiology with at least 6 months experience in high complexity testing within virology.
  • Have earned a master's degree in a chemical,physical,biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology; and at least 2 years of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing within microbiology with at least 6 months experience in high complexity testing within virology
  • Have an earned doctoral degree in a chemical,physical,biological or clinical laboratory science; and at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing within microbiology with at least 6 months experience in high complexity testing within virology
  • A doctor of medicine,doctor of osteopathy,or doctor of podiatric medicine licensed to practice medicine,osteopathy,or podiatry in the State in which the laboratory is located; and have at least 1 year of laboratory training or experience in high complexity testing within microbiology with a minimum of 6 months experience in high complexity testing within virology
  • A doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State in which the laboratory is located; and be certified in clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology or possess qualifications that are equivalent to those required for such certification

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MUST meet CLIA's requirements for technical supervisors in high complexity virology laboratories as outlined above
  • Previous experience with PCR
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with quality control and quality assurance practices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Meets CLIA's requirements for technical supervisors in high complexity virology laboratories as outlined above
  • Previous experience with performing PCR assays
  • Experience with quality control and quality assurance

Schedule: This position is currently scheduled Monday - Friday 8:00AM - 5:00PM
