Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated communications student with writing experience to work alongside the Price College of Engineering’s communications staff. This internship would entail at least 15 hours per week of remote work during standard business hours (M-F, 8am-5:30pm). The position will continue through the end of the fall semester and may be extended through the end of the Spring semester by mutual interest. Pay is $15 per hour.
All U Communications department students, particularly those in the Science-Communications track, are invited to apply.
Responsibilities
Writes a variety of items, including announcements, profiles, and press releases, for the Price website and printed publications.
Interviews faculty members and students for stories.
Produces and posts stories using Price Engineering’s WordPress-based content management system.
Conducts background research on potential story topics and how they are being covered in the media.
Ensures that deadlines are met.
Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Preferences
Currently enrolled University of Utah (undergraduate or graduate) student in Communications, (student in the Science-Communications track a plus). Strong writing and verbal communication skills with a firm grasp of technological terms and ideas; familiarity with Microsoft Word or compatible software; ability to work both individually and in a team setting. Demonstrated skills in copyediting. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar a plus.
Available to work study students but work study is not required to apply.
