Position Summary & Responsibilities:
The Tax Analyst will focus on federal income tax compliance within the direct tax function, playing a central role in the preparation and support of federal tax workpapers, provision calculations, and audit file development to ensure accurate and compliant filings. This role will also contribute to process automation initiatives, supporting projects that streamline invoice processing, tax calculations, and other workflows. By leveraging tools like Alteryx and Power Query in Excel, the analyst will have opportunities to improve efficiency across direct and indirect tax functions while gaining exposure to a wide range of tax and cross-functional operations. Additionally, the analyst will support indirect tax functions, including customer communications, exemption certificate management, and compliance tasks, while collaborating cross-functionally with finance, customer service, and billing teams.
Cross-Functional
Alteryx and Power Query Development
Develop and optimize Alteryx workflows and Power Query processes to improve tax process efficiency.
Act as an Alteryx Champion, supporting team training and workflow improvements.
Process Improvement and Automation: Identify automation opportunities and assist in building a tax database using Snowflake, SQL, and Python.
Project Participation and Compliance
Participate in invoice processing and tax calculation projects within billing systems to ensure compliance.
Complete tasks in line with company quality standards.
Other Duties as Assigned
Direct Tax
Federal Quarterly Provision Support
Assist in preparing provisional tax computations for senior review.
Use ONESOURCE, Alteryx, and Power Query for provision support.
Analyze and reconcile tax-related general ledger accounts for accuracy.
Notice and Audit Resolution
Prepare and organize audit documentation following compliance checklists.
Track and process tax notices, providing updates to the Income Tax Management Team.
Work with the Income Tax Management Team on response letters, documentation, and payments.
Federal Taxable Income Computations for Annual Filings
Prepare workpapers for federal taxable income computations with finance and accounting teams.
Support annual federal income tax filings using third-party software.
Assist with additional federal tax filings as required.
Special Projects and Research: Conduct tax research on legislative changes to support federal compliance.
Indirect Tax
Customer Communications and Dunning Letters: Prepare and send dunning letters for expiring exemption certificates, tracking follow-up activities.
Indirect Tax Email Support and Issue Resolution: Track inquiries, update policies, and communicate tax guidelines with customer service and billing teams.
Exemption Certificate Management: Process and verify exemption certificates, update the database, and review eligibility periodically.
Education, Skills, & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field required with 0 years of experience.
Master's Degree preferred
1+ year of experience in Accounting or Tax is preferred but not required
Experience using PivotTables, VLOOKUP, & Power Query in Excel is highly desired
Experience using Alteryx is highly preferred - Tools such as Oracle, Power BI, Tableau, or something similar also accepted
Experience with Process Automation is desired
