Job Summary
The school social worker position responsibilities include but are not limited to: providing direct provision of Tier 2-3 mental health supports and collaborating with various populations. These populations include students, teachers, staff/admin, and parents to address the mental and social well-being of students; providing counseling for mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, and positive behavioral support; consulting with teachers, administrators, parents to provide individual and group school and mental health counseling.
This is a 6-month part-time contract. Full-time annual contract renewal is available given performance and funding availability.
Responsibilities
Consulting with parents, administrators, and other school staff to identify students in need of social, emotional, behavioral, academic tailored supports to improve academic engagement and emotional well-being
Facilitating connection between school and community in providing services to students, families, and school staff to promote and support student academic and social success
Providing crisis intervention and assist with conflict resolution and emotional regulation
Assisting with development of plans to support mental health and behavioral concerns
Assisting with school district’s attendance dropout prevention efforts
Traveling to school district buildings and attends professional meetings as required
Coordinating with outside agencies, organizations, and state and federal institutions as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Required
Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
One of the following
Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.
Current license to practice as a Certified Social Worker in the State of Utah.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Social Work
Experience providing evidence-based therapy services to K-12 age children/adolescents
Experience with Tier 3 – one-on-one therapy
1-2 years of experience working in a public education setting or school-based setting
Experience with group counseling
Demonstrate professional communication throughout work environment, including interactions with students and their family members
