Job Summary
The University Campus Store is seeking a Shipping and Receiving Manager to oversee all aspects of our shipping and receiving operations. Under the direction of the Inventory and Fulfillment Manager, this position manages and directs the activities of teams responsible for receiving, shipping, and handling deliveries and items within the store efficiently and accurately, in compliance with company policies and procedures.
The Shipping and Receiving Manager coordinates all inbound and outbound products within the Campus Store. This involves managing the flow of goods coming into and going out of the store, including receiving deliveries, inspecting and storing products, and handling returns. The Shipping and Receiving Manager is also responsible for effectively addressing and resolving issues related to shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all processes are carried out with precision to maintain high standards.
This role requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, a strong commitment to internal and external customer service, and the capability to direct a large team in daily responsibilities. The manager must make informed decisions to optimize operations and resolve issues promptly, maintain high productivity standards, and oversee logistics to ensure smooth operations. They must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the supply chain to manage inventory effectively and utilize current inventory management systems to maintain accurate records and streamline processes. Additionally, the manager is responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing a multi-faceted inventory flow, and implementing processes as needed to improve operational efficiency. The manager will also be responsible for training all staff in handling, sorting, and maintaining stock, addressing associated problems, and ensuring efficient receiving operations.

Responsibilities
Manages receipt of supplies and freight : Checks deliveries against purchase orders, verifies items meet defined specifications, and manages the flow of received products into and out of the Campus Store.
Initiates and completes receiving processes : Ensures retail and non-retail merchandise is processed within 48 hours of delivery.
Manages staff workflow : Adjusts staff activities as necessary to meet the 48-hour receipt expectation.
Conducts weekly audits : Reviews receiving accuracy and addresses issues immediately upon acknowledgment.
Provides vision and goals : Sets operational efficiency targets for the department that align with the Campus Store’s overall vision and goals.
Oversees vehicle use and maintenance : Manages the use, maintenance, and procurement of all Campus Store vehicles.
Manages all incoming and outgoing freight : Ensures the most economical means of delivery and pick-up.
Hires, trains, and evaluates employees : Oversees all Shipping and Receiving staff.
Implements and monitors the operating budget : Manages the department’s budget effectively.
Ensures equipment maintenance : Keeps all equipment in good working order.

Minimum Qualifications
Five years of warehouse or stockroom experience; previous supervisory experience or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education); and demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills required. Dependent upon department of hire a CDL license w/ HAZMET endorsement and/or the ability to manipulate heavy objects may be required.
