UI Senior Business Analyst (Senior Business Analyst)

This position will be in Utah s Unemployment Insurance (UI) Division. This division is regularly recognized nationally as being the best performing UI Division in the nation. As a Senior Business Analyst,you will have the opportunity to use your analytical skills to solve real-world problems. This position coordinates and conducts research projects,validates figures submitted for federal reporting,and acts as a consultant to examine policies,project findings,and operational data for integrity related issues within the UI Division. The Senior Business Analyst also performs data mining,data research,and data analysis to identify areas of concern. They validate data,recommend policy options based on project findings,provide detailed impact analysis to improve existing programs,submit federal grant monitoring reports,communicate with management,coordinate integrity efforts in the division,design and develop various local ad-hoc reports,and perform other related duties as assigned.   *Principal Duties The UI Senior Business Analyst performs the following tasks:  *

  • Provides updates on research projects,discussing findings with management,and developing plans to improve compliance.
  • Reviews data sources,identifying discrepancies,and making recommendations for correcting errors. 
  • Reviews policies for accuracy,making recommendations for identifying potential risks,and for improving compliance and evaluating the impact of those changes.
  • Anticipates the impact that new or modified policies will have on existing standards and systems.
  • Creates reports to track specific data points,identify trends,or evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
  • Identifies research topics,developing research plans,collecting data,analyzing data,and writes research reports. 
  • Coordinates with multiple parties to track the progress of grant-funded projects,ensuring that the funds are being used appropriately,and reporting on the results of the projects.
  • Uses query software to extract and analyze data.
  • Monitors and evaluates operations,programs,processes and/or practices for quality and effectiveness; makes recommendations for improvement.

  • Interact with or contribute to a work group or team to complete assigned task(s).
  • Logically analyze or identify underlying principles,reasons,or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions.
  • Identify and resolve data issues using appropriate methodology and techniques.
  • Track and analyze data to identify trends and patterns using principles,theories,and practices of computer data storage,retrieval,and/or restoration Use automated software applications.
  • Yield results using computer relational database software and State or agency-specific software application program(s) and multimedia applications.
