Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to contribute to the success of our organization by supporting key financial operations. The Senior Accountant will assist the Manager, Accounting with the day-to-day operations of the SMPA accounting team. You will play a key role in completing the month-end close and the review, implementation, and maintenance of controls. This individual will have a vested interest in SMPA’s cultural values, be a self-starter and show a willingness to be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations of the accounting team.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with the timely completion of the month-end close through the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and period-over-period account fluctuation analysis
Collaborate with the Director Manager, Accounting to ensure that the general ledger reflects all financial transactions are recorded in accordance with IFRS
Be responsible for the cash reconciliation process
Maintain the fixed asset, leases, prepaids and other current assets schedules
Assist in the completion of the monthly PO accrual process in tandem with external vendors and internal business stakeholders
Support the testing and implementation of U.S. GAAP SOX & J-SOX
Collaborate with our group reporting team on the monthly consolidated financial reporting process
Collaborate with the accounting team to define process improvements and operational efficiencies

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance
Master’s degree or CPA are a plus
Minimum 3+ years of corporate and/or public accounting experience
Experience applying IFRS
Relevant experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry a plus
Prior experience in a multi-national commercial business a plus
Experience using Oracle, SAP, and Blackline or similar task management and reconciliation tool
Internal Control and SOX experience preferred
The base salary range for this role is $86,500 to $108,100. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also includes the opportunity for merit-based salary increases, short incentive plan participation, eligibility for our 401(k) plan, medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances and leaves provided in line with your work state. Our robust time-off policy includes unlimited paid time off, 11 paid holidays plus additional time off for a shut-down period during the last week of December, 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and each year thereafter. Total compensation, including base salary to be offered, will depend on elements unique to each candidate, including candidate experience, skills, education and other factors permitted by law.
