University of Utah RNA-seq Analyst in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
Applications are invited for appointment as a Post-doctoral Fellow in Single Cell and Spatial Omics for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. The appointee will work on interdisciplinary projects related to the use of single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell imaging, spatial transcriptomics, and bioinformatics methods to study bone remodeling, biomaterials, and foreign body response in an NIH-funded project.The suitable candidate must demonstrate proficiency in computer programming (R, and python), and the application of statistical methods commonly used to analyze genetic data. Experience using data analysis pipelines and machine learning analytical approaches is also preferred. Candidates must also demonstrate an ability to interpret and summarize research findings and an interest in assisting manuscript preparation, grant writing, and presenting at scientific meetings. The scholarly focus of the successful candidate should complement the expertise of our current clinical and research faculty with active grants in percutaneous orthopedic implants, bone grafts, and nerve grafts. The successful candidate will be able to work across subdisciplines within the Department of Surgery to strengthen our academic research.The Department of Surgery is a vibrant and growing department, nested within is the Division of Plastic Surgery. Our clinical team has a robust clinical practice and growing research expertise, with multiple active federal grants. As part of the Plastic surgery research team, we are currently involved in clinical trials, clinical translational studies, RNA sequencing, and basic science.
