Job Summary
Join the dynamic and innovative team at the University of Utah College of Nursing as a Operations Manager for a new innovative program within Dr. Kathi Mooney’s Research Team. This position is based in Salt Lake City, UT at the University of Utah College of Nursing Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center ( EEJNRC ). This exciting role involves supporting groundbreaking research in oncology patient symptom management and contributing to the transformative Rural Huntsman at Home project. The Rural Huntsman at Home (H@H) project is affiliated with the prestigious Huntsman Cancer Institute/Hospital, a National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center. This program delivers cutting-edge home-based care to cancer patients in rural Southeastern Utah, aiming to revolutionize access to supportive care, enhance quality of life, and significantly reduce unplanned hospital visits.
Under minimal supervision, this position will be responsible for the Mooney Research Group’s involvement with the Rural Huntsman @ Home Program operations (pertaining to administrative, personnel, and organizational functions). Provides strategic support and leadership in planning, developing, and implementing new programs to advance the mission and goals of the Rural H@H program under Dr. Mooney’s leadership. Assist in evaluating current and proposed systems and procedures. Recommends changes when necessary and assist in implementation of new processes. Acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers and staff to ensure continuity and quality of service and care. Works with multiple faculty members from different departments at the University of Utah who are involved in the development and evaluation of this new program.

Responsibilities
Be a pivotal member of the Mooney Lab and support the Rural Huntsman at Home project, driving impactful research and care initiatives.
Collaborate with a diverse team of research staff, faculty, clinical professionals, and community members to bring innovative solutions to life.
Coordinate and oversee research group activities, ensuring exceptional customer service and efficient staffing through effective team-building strategies.
Act as a vital link between the project, its customers, and staff, ensuring exceptional service and care continuity.
Forecasts, develops, and implements policies and procedures in the areas of customer service, staff management, and objectives that are consistent with University of Utah’s policies.
Markets and promotes new and existing programs and services to internal and external customers.
Participates in University-wide committees to establish customer service standards and administrative plans and policies
Develops departmental strategies consistent with the assigned departments continuous quality improvement program.
Ensures competency of staff through the development and/or presentation of educational programs and through ongoing staff performance evaluations.

Minimum Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related area of assignment or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of assigned department’s area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department.
Master’s degree in a related area may be preferred.

Preferences
Master’s Degree Preferred. Prefer candidate with experience in oncology and remote patient monitoring research. Experience with successful team building programs.
