University of Utah OCHE Assistant Commissioner of Industry in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
The Assistant Commissioner of Industry Workforce Initiatives for Talent Ready Utah (TRU) at the Commissioners Office of Higher Education (OCHE) within the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) occupies a vital supervisory and leadership role for industry facing workforce programs administered by Talent Ready Utah. The Assistant Commissioner operates under the direction of the Associate Commissioner of Talent Ready Utah in convening private sector partners and key state stakeholders to address critical workforce needs within the Targeted Industry Clusters identified by GO Utah, under the direction of the Commissioner. The Assistant Commissioner will assist the Associate Commissioner to represent the voice of industry to develop workforce strategies as TRU seeks to align educational outcomes and competencies with the demands of industry through an array of strategies and initiatives.Under the direction of the Associate Commissioner of TRU, the Assistant Commissioner creates plans to implement Strategies and Tactics of the Utah Board of Higher Educations Strategic Plan, execute statutory Talent Ready Utah roles identified in code 53B-34, and establishes goals/metrics/ROI for workforce development programs administered to educator partners across the state.The Assistant Commissioner oversees a variety of administrative and supervisory duties including the coordination and administering activities associated with workforce development within K-12 pathways programs, youth apprenticeships, skill-based workforce training programs, and incumbent worker training.This position demonstrates strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders from the public and private sectors. This position requires a professional that is comfortable both working in teams and independently to fulfill the job function. This position is a self-starter, is self-motivated, and leads highly productive cross-functional working groups to meet the mission of Talent Ready Utah.
