Job Summary

Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC ventilation systems and building machinery. Assists other technicians with large jobs and routine work. Responsible for editing and maintaining a tool, equipment, and parts inventory. Promotes efficient, economical, continuous,, and safe operation of equipment.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  1. Make positive contributions to the safety culture on campus and follow the University safety procedures.

  2. Provide excellent customer service by listening and communicating with the customer to address concerns before, during, and after work is done.

  3. Work collaboratively with other trades and co-workers to create a cohesive workplace.

  4. Use the university work order system to record and maintain equipment performance, repair records, and add notes to phases.

  5. Perform preventative maintenance on air handler filters, coils, and other equipment.

  6. Provide routine maintenance in mechanical space including cleaning, installing, insulation, and other duties as assigned.

  7. Assist in the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems while gaining knowledge to perform individually.

  8. Use the university work-order system to record and maintain equipment performance, repair records, and add notes to work orders.

  9. Assist other trades in regular duties and projects.

  10. Learning other skills through on-the-job training.

  11. Maintain clean and safe equipment and mechanical areas.

  12. Maintain, operate, overhaul, repair, and service various types of building systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Four years relevant work experience in the applicable trades areas or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); demonstrated knowledge of national, state and local building codes and standards; ability to read wiring diagrams, blueprints, and be able to make mechanical sketches and drawings; and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills required. Requires lifting and transporting heavy objects.

A valid Utah Driver’s license may be required.
