Job Summary
Serve students, staff, and faculty in the Knowledge Commons, the Marriott Library’s central service point for technology and reference assistance. Work with a team of students and library staff to answer questions in a variety of areas including campus and library services, research, computer software, printing, mobile device configuration, classroom support, and equipment checkout.
For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception is granted.
Responsibilities
Provide students, staff, and faculty with technology assistance, library information, and basic research assistance, including accessing electronic journals and research databases. Provide support for printing, scanning, various software, wireless laptop setup, and classroom and lab media equipment. Offer services including equipment circulation, poster printing, and cashiering.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled 6 undergraduate credit hours or 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters.
Preferences
Basic knowledge of Windows and Mac computers, printing, Microsoft Office, web browsers, peripherals, and media equipment. Willingness to learn new skills. Good communication skills and customer service ability. Ability to troubleshoot issues on one’s own and by working with coworkers, supervisors, and librarians.
This job requires regular and predictable attendance.
