State of Utah - Jobs Financial Analyst III in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is looking for an individual who is detail oriented and has an excellent understanding of accounting to fill a Financial Analyst III position and join our team of professionals within the Administrative Services Division (ASD). Principal Duties This is a senior level job which requires a thorough knowledge of pertinent policies and procedures to assist with the management of financial programs and a high volume and complex financial functions. Employees in this position may perform duties including:

  • researching financial problem areas 
  • exercise decision making in recording and analyzing financial data 
  • resolving,reconciling and adjusting for special conditions or circumstances
  • presenting and defending practices
  • developing and interpreting complex reports and fiscal statements
  • developing,modifying or enhancing appropriate fiscal policies and procedures
  • reviewing and approving budgets for sub-recipient agreements and invoices received from sub-recipients

     The Ideal Candidate  The ideal candidate for this position is someone who has:

  • a bachelor's degree or higher in accounting OR 4 or more years of work experience related to accounting and financial activities

  • the ability to work effectively as a team and with other divisions within the department
  • strong Excel experience (pivot tables,formulas,VBA,etc.)
  • strong analytical and communication skills
  • experience in accounting in a governmental entity

Preference  Preference may be given to applicants:

  • who hold a degree in accounting,finance or a related field
  • who are a licensed Certified Public Accountant
  • who are currently or recently employed with the State of Utah
  • who are currently employed with the Department of Workforce Services
