Research Scientist Position at Energy & Geoscience Institute, University of UtahThe Energy & Geoscience Institute (EGI) at the University of Utah (https://egi.utah.edu/) invites applications for a senior research scientist position. The position entails managing an existing geothermal energy research program, and developing dynamic, externally-funded research opportunities. Ongoing geothermal research at EGI includes the U.S. Department of Energy sponsored Utah FORGE (Frontier Observatory for Research in Geothermal Energy) project (https://utahforge.com/). Utah FORGE is an Engineered Geothermal Systems (EGS) demonstration project that has been funded at over $200 M during the last eight years and has been recently awarded an additional $80 M for developing, testing, and accelerating breakthroughs in EGS technologies through 2028.We seek the best available candidate with strengths focusing on geothermal energy-related settings with the ability to manage research agendas for all geothermal applications. A Ph.D in Geosciences or Engineering is preferred; however, candidates with a lesser university degree with exceptional professional experience will also be considered. Continued emphasis would be placed on expanding EGIs reputation as a geothermal center of excellence and in expanding its academic mission.
