Job Description

Summary : Under general supervision, performs journey-level custodial duties in cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of Company buildings and facilities by following approved SOPs and cleaning procedures.

Essential Job Functions : This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Carries out and documents responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and state, federal and local laws.

  • Maintains inventory of custodial supplies.

  • Restocks restrooms and cleans facilities.

  • Oversees major cleaning projects by outside vendors.

  • Performs full range of cleaning duties as required.

  • Cleans floors, tables, bathrooms, offices, etc. in a prescribed manner and according to a predetermined schedule.

  • Operates equipment to scrub/polish floors in specified areas.

  • Responds as directed to do emergency cleaning work where and when required.

  • May be asked to shovel snow from sidewalks in winter or clean up exterior areas in the summertime.

  • Responsible for all exterior trash, seating areas, parking lot and sidewalks.

  • Escort vendors and contractors in cGMP areas.

  • Maintain log and records books.

  • Removes trash from outside receptacles and stores trash according to recycling requirements.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, including safety rules and regulations.

  • Performs related duties as assigned.


Required Knowledge and Skills :

Knowledge of :

  • Current Company policies and procedures including safety rules and regulations.

  • Good documentation practices.

  • Custodial practices and procedures.

  • Proper maintenance and upkeep of custodial tools and equipment.

  • Safe use of cleaning chemicals and finishing products.

Skill in:

  • Complying with all Company policies and procedures.

  • Following all Company safety rules and regulations, recognizing hazards and taking appropriate corrective action.

  • Understanding and following written and oral instructions.

  • Performing cleaning tasks and maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.

  • Operating small hand tools and cleaning equipment including scrubbers, vacuums, buffers and various pieces of hand cleaning equipment (mops, sponges, rags, etc.).

  • Working independently by following a schedule of assignments.

  • Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals contacted in the course of work.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions : Incumbents in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, pushing and pulling, stooping and crouching climbing and walking, occasional lifting of equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Noise level is moderate.

Minimum Qualifications : High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years of custodial experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment; or one (1) year of satisfactory work performance as a Custodian I; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
