AMERICAN CYBER SYSTEMS INC Controls Engineering Technician in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah
Responsible for supporting the effective implementation of maintenance projects through sustaining maintenance, improvement, installation and troubleshooting of new automation production assets. Will also assist in evaluating existing process and equipment control systems, suggest and evaluate improvement alternatives, coordinate maintenance activities, and specify improved maintenance procedures. Provide technical controls support for projects including design, implementation, and commissioning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintenance team subject matter expert for troubleshooting; PLC's, Vision systems, Leak testers, data collection interface errors & other technically advanced processes.
- Reviews and assists with root cause investigations for recurring machine breakdowns, performance gaps or quality issues.
- Develop project charters and detailed plans including cost/timing for improvement projects.
- Review preventative maintenance procedures on improvement focused equipment for accuracy and effectiveness. Provide updates and revisions to the preventative maintenance procedures within the electronic maintenance management system (Oracle).
- Troubleshoots and assists in repairs of equipment, instrumentation, controls, PLCs, HMIs and processes in area of responsibility. Must make accurate and concise decisions or recommendations with timing appropriate for the situation to supervisors regarding problems.
- Recommends and reviews spare parts, sp ecifications, SOP's and preventative maintenance programs for equipment, processes, and facilities.
- Identify problem trends and propose solutions. Incumbent must be able to effectively communicate in both verbal and written form the nature of the problems and proposed resolutions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or required.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- The position requires a high level of resourcefulness, self-starter, ability to work with all departments.
- Must be able to interpret Engineering specifications and read/update engineering drawings.
- Must have thorough knowledge of basic mechanical, electrical and instrumentation principles, and the ability to troubleshoot equipment and/or processes to optimize its performance.
- Knowledge of Plastic Automated Assembly/Medical Device manufacturing preferred.
- Must show proficiency with knowledge/skills in the following: MS Office, AutoCAD, PLC/HMI programming and mechanical systems. Strong mental alertness, verbal communication, and technical writing ability necessary. Must be flexible with work schedule and able to work overtime, weekends and adjust their work schedule on short notice, when needed to support plant operations or when requested by their supervisor.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma; Associates degree and four years applicable industrial experience OR eight years applicable industrial experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in the food, drug or cosmetic industries. Experience in a regulated industry, FDA regulated and/or pharmaceutical preferred.
- Minimum 4, Preferred 6 of years of experience required.
- Strong experience with electronics in the form of PLCs, photo sensors, I/O readouts and data gathering
- Ability to understand and troubleshoot PLC ladder logic programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Most of the work will be perf ormed in a clean room environment requiring the wearing of hairnet smock and shoe covers
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, depending on the task
- Must be able to occasionally move and lift objects of up to 75 lbs
