Job Summary
Assists teachers or other professionals in assigned classrooms and performs a variety of tasks designed to meet the physical, emotional, and educational needs of children or deliver direct services to students. Follows directions given by the teacher and shares concerns regarding children, students, or the center, with the teacher or director.
Infant/Toddler Classroom, children under the age of 24 months
Responsibilities
Helps the children experience success in physical, social and intellectual tasks. Reinforces and broadens concepts as presented by the teacher. Observes behavior, documents and may offer suggestions to the teacher. Does not directly communicate with parents concerning children’s problems. May assume full responsibility for the group for short periods of time when the teacher is involved in other activities. Assists teacher in activities and tasks which contributes to an orderly, clean environment for children. Meets with the teacher and staff to assist in planning. Plans a morning or afternoon small group activity with assistance of Head Teacher. Supervises playground unless specifically requested to be indoors. May assume full responsibility for the group for short periods of time when the teacher is involved in other activities. Must be able to lift 35 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications
This is an entry-level position. Training will be provided. Must demonstrate an interest in learning about child development and guidance; a willingness to take direction from the assigned teacher; willing to obtain a food handlers permit, TB test, Bureau of Criminal Investigation ( BCI ) background check, first aid training are required. Demonstrated human relation and effective human relations skills are also required.
