UTAH COMMUNITY ACTION Building Maintenance Technician in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Utah Community Action of Salt Lake City, UT, is seeking to hire a full-time* Building Maintenance Technician.Come work for the Agency awarded Best of State 2024 for Best Public Preschool.

This Building Maintenance Technician position offers a competitive wage of $21.59/hour, a testament to the value we place on your skills and experience. Job Summary:

As a Facilities Maintenance Technician, you'll ensure our buildings' safety, cleanliness, and functionality. Your proactive approach to maintenance and repair tasks will be instrumental in maintaining the highest safety and efficiency standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and other building infrastructure.
  • Regular inspections should be conducted to identify and address potential maintenance issues before they become significant problems.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety policies and local, state, federal, and program regulations.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and address issues on time to minimize disruption to the facility's operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and time spent on tasks.
  • Collaborate with facility managers to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for special events and activities within the facilities.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies and notify the facility manager when replacements are needed.
  • Ensure the facility's exterior, including playgrounds and parking areas, is well-maintained and safe.

Qualifications For a Building Maintenance Technician

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Three years of building maintenance experience
  • Valid driver's license and be insurable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues effectively
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff and supervisors
  • A CDL license (preferred)
  • Certification from a technical school in a construction-related field (preferred)
  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance, preferably in a childcare or educational setting (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and general building ma intenance (preferred)

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, including adverse weather conditions.
  • You may require on-call availability for emergency repairs outside of regular working hours.
  • Safety gear and equipment must be used as required.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, lifting, stooping, or carrying equipment and materials may be requir d.
  • This position requires lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • They may be exposed to extreme temperatures, close-quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.

Work Schedule

Typical work schedule 7:30 am-4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
