As directed by the Benefits Supervisor, administers leaves of absence, return-to-work, and disability programs. Creates leave cases, reviews leave documentation, determines leave eligibility, generates leave status letters, and tracks leave periods. Communicates with management regarding employees leave period and return-to-work date. Oversees and completes disability intake forms and information inquiries. Calculates bi-weekly benefit arrears for employees on leave. Coordinates administrative changes with payroll and monitors payroll reports for discrepancies and non-compliance of approved leaves. Provides excellent customer service support to internal and external customers. Participates in onsite visits to assist employees in benefit enrollment processes during Open Enrollment. Ensures compliance with company policies and applicable federal and state laws/regulations such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), HIPAA, COBRA, and IRC. Completes additional assignments and duties as needed.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Human Resources Management, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:
- Two years direct experience administering benefit plans.
Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of benefit plan designs and programs, including benefit eligibility provisions, benefit coverage details, and benefit limitations.
- Functional knowledge of laws and requirements re: ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, and Medicare.
- Claims background and experience preferred.
Skills:
- Intermediate level proficiency in MS Word, Outlook and Excel (preferred).
- Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills, including during tight processing deadlines.
- High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage shifting responsibilities in a dynamic, cross-functional teamwork environment.
Ability to:
- Research and solve complex benefits related issues as they arise.
- Understand and articulate various benefit terms, plan details, and programs.
- Build effective relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Keep detailed logs and accurate records.
This job requires regular and predictable in-person attendance.

Pay Range: $56,000.00 or more depending on experience
