JOB SUMMARY
Assist the Foster Coordinator in management of animals in the various foster programs. Working with the public to recruit new foster parents and provide education and mentoring to foster parents regarding pet conditions and illness.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1-2 years of experience related to animal welfare, veterinary technology, volunteer management, outreach program, or a closely related field.
A valid Driver’s License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire, in order to operate a County vehicle.
May be required to work holidays, nights, and weekends as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Scheduling foster pets for vaccine and surgery appointments.
Administering vaccinations and treatments for foster animals.
Posting animals in need of a foster placement onto social media pages.
Gather foster pet supplies for foster volunteers.
Maintain inventory of foster supplies and materials.
Meet with foster volunteers for pet “meet and greets” and “pick-ups”.
Reach out to fosters for weekly updates.
Monitoring and answering foster emails and calls.
Adoption or foster recruitment event assistance
Assisting Foster Coordinator in other various tasks.
Availability to work weekends and evenings if needed.
May drive a county vehicle for adoption/recruitment events
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Knowledge of:
Experience working with animals and general knowledge of animal behavior and care.
Professional telephone and customer service etiquette.
Basic office procedures.
Working with the public.
Skills and Abilities to:
Successfully work with various types of animals in a safe manner.
Maintain calm and composed in stressful, sensitive, or emergency situations.
Excellent customer service, listening and decision-making skills.
Basic computer skills necessary for checking e-mails and learning shelter specific software.
Ability to safely operate a vehicle.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The ability to perform essential physical requirements such as lifting, walking, sitting, kneeling, or bending.
Travels to locations throughout the County if needed.
