The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine has an immediate opening for an academic Adolescent Medicine Physician. The Adolescent Medicine Physician will be part of the clinical team in the Division of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. The physician will be responsible for providing clinical care with and without trainees, as well as developing, testing, implementing and publishing successful educational and/or research concepts within the field of Adolescent Medicine and other adjacent fields, and for obtaining independent funding to maintain research programs. In addition to clinical activities, there is an expectation for academic work, including education, investigation, administration and advocacy.

The clinical practice serves a largely suburban population of adolescents and young adults referred mostly for transgender/gender-diverse health, obesity and cardiovascular disease risk factors, eating disorders, mood disorders, and adolescent gynecology. The Division is also responsible for directing medical care in the juvenile justice services corrections facilities for three counties.

Qualified candidates must be board eligible/board certified in Adolescent Medicine (any area of primary specialty is welcome – Pediatrics, Family Medicine or Internal Medicine). Preference will be given to candidates with experience in treating LGBTQ patients and patients with eating disorders; and to candidates with a history of scholarly achievement in the form of publications, grant submissions and presentations. The selected candidate will receive a faculty appointment in the Department of Pediatrics on the Clinical or Tenure Track, at the academic level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
