Job Summary
Provides tactical management control of, and responsibility for, an academic, or administrative unit, including the functions of planning, directing, staffing, budgeting and making day-to-day business operating decisions.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Initiates functional, cost-effective business, or service systems, which accomplish unit objectives.
Handles, or provides for an accounting system to support the necessary daily operation of the department.
Exercises prudent financial control according to correct policy and procedures to ensure the unit operates within budget and other constraints.
Reviews change in University policy, federal regulations and contractual requirements and coordinate their implementation.
Provides effective supervision over subordinate staff.
Provides advice to faculty and staff on policy and procedure questions.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience); four years of management level experience in a related area, which has included developing and maintaining administrative systems and proper accounting, or related records; and a commitment to provide excellent customer service required. Specific departments may require background skills pertinent to their operation.
