Description
We are seeking a PERS Payroll Specialist to join our team in Portland, Oregon. for a contract position. This role involves working closely with a large community college and focuses on reconciling a backlog of Permanent Employee Retirement Savings(PERS) accounts, researching issues and document processes and procedures moving forward. This position is largely remote but requires a candidate that lives in Oregon and is experienced in Oregon PERS.
Responsibilities:
• Assisting in the reconciliation of PERS records in the payroll system.
• Researching and rectifying payroll-related issues.
• Developing and maintaining a document outlining the process and procedures for the team.
• Utilizing 'Workday Payroll' system for processing and managing payroll activities.
• Carrying out account reconciliation tasks effectively.
• Collaborating with the team to optimize payroll procedures and ensure accuracy.
• Addressing payroll-related queries and providing solutions.
• Conducting regular audits to ensure data accuracy.
• Ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Regularly updating and maintaining accurate payroll records.
Requirements
• Experience working with Oregon PERS
• Proficiency in Workday Payroll software is mandatory for this role.
• Strong experience in account reconciliation is required.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing.
• Familiarity with payroll tax laws and regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
• Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
