[High School diploma or GED. Vocational and/or technical training in management, equipment operations, construction or related field with three to five years road construction and maintenance experience. One to three years supervisory experience preferred. [Must be at least 21 years of age. [Ability to meet all County hiring requirements, including passage of a medical exam and a drug test. [Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of department safety policies and procedures and applicable OSHA safety policies and procedures. [Working knowledge of and ability to ensure safe, proper operation and maintenance of department vehicles and equipment. [Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to prepare detailed written reports and plan/present meetings and agendas. [Ability to supervise personnel, including administering personnel programs and procedures, maintaining proper staffing levels, interviewing and hiring job applicants, providing orientation and training, planning, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, evaluating job performance, maintaining standards, and initiating disciplinary procedures and/or termination as warranted. [Ability to properly operate standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, copier and telephone. [Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other County departments, County Commissioners, vendors, contractors, the media, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities. [Ability to comply with all employer and department policies and work rules, including but not limited to, attendance, safety, drug-free workplace, and personal conduct. [Ability to provide public access to or maintain confidentiality of department information and records according to state requirements. [Ability to competently serve the public with diplomacy and respect, including occasional encounters with irrational/hostile persons. [Ability to understand, memorize, retain and follow oral and written instructions and present findings in oral or written form. [Ability to compute/perform arithmetic operations, such as maintaining inventories, preparing bids and calculating costs for materials and equipment. [Ability to compile, analyze and evaluate data, make determinations, and take action based on data analysis. [Ability to work alone with minimum supervision and with others in a team environment, often amidst frequent distractions, interruptions and time constraints.
