Benefit Eligible Benefit Eligible FLSA Status Exempt Office Location Anderson Center Location St. Paul, Minnesota Workplace Onsite Job Summary This is a Hybrid, 2 days a week WFH position. The other three days will be at Bethel University's Anderson Center. Our Senior Staff Accountant is part of our Finance team and maintains accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Responsibilities Performs general accounting functions, including operation of the general ledger system, journal entries, and month-end close work. Reconciles various bank, investment, and general ledger accounts. Supervises and leads team of student and non-student employees. Duties include hiring, mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, 1:1 meetings, and approving timecards. Assist with annual audit and 990. Assist with payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable when needed. Completes property and sales tax returns. Assists in establishing and maintaining company policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with state escheat laws. Maintain fixed asset listing and inventory. Other duties as assigned. Required Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required. Must have the ability to solve complex math problems. Must be a proven self-starter and be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must be detail-oriented and have effective oral and written communication skills. Must be able to organize, prioritize, and handle multiple duties. Solid understanding of GAAP. Must have shown a proven ability to manage details. Individual must be able to handle sensitive, confidential information in a mature, professional manner. Experience Required: 3+ years accounting experience. Preferred: Experience working in higher education. Education Required: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent experience. Additional Information Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of times.
