WuXi AppTec Senior Business Development Director in Saint Paul, Minnesota
Overview
This position is responsible for leading business development activities in the US, predominantly East Coast region with a focus on Boston & Philadelphia centers for OXGENE, a subsidiary of WuXi Advanced Therapies Unit (ATU) Division. This position works closely with OXGENE subject matter experts (SMEs) and the wider technical team, other BD team members, and the senior management team in the US to develop and execute the most effective strategy to develop opportunities to sell services and license OXGENEs innovation and technology.
This position is responsible for managing some key accounts and is also responsible for business development for new accounts. This position works proactively with other BU team members, such as other BD team members, Marketing, Project Management, Technical Groups, and Operations to ensure objectives and goals are achieved.
OXGENE, develops pioneering technologies to accelerate the discovery and manufacture of cell and gene therapies. We provide expert design and engineering services for viral vector optimization and cell line development as well as developing innovative new technologies to transform the manufacture of cell and gene therapies. Responsibilities
Develop a detailed strategic plan to identify business opportunities for our innovative platform technology which includes initial evaluations leading to licencing of the technology.
Manage current clients evaluating/ deploying the technologies; maintain, protect, and grow the business for both short and long-term revenue growth
Ensure that the quarterly and annual commercial targets are achieved for the assigned territory
Identify your customers’ needs, goals and challenges, and provide solutions to these through the proper positioning of OXGENE products, services, knowledge and expertise; inform, train and influence customers. Create win-win outcomes to achieve both our goals and the clients’ long term aims
Know and be known by your customers; maintain a regular presence within your territory. Secure targeted meetings to identify and advance opportunities with your customers. Create and deliver presentations; coordinating appropriate resources for customer meetings and visits
Follow-up on leads, close action items and customer requests completely and in a timely fashion
Collaborate with and support Marketing colleagues in the preparation of scientific marketing material to extend our commercial reach. Develop and share intelligence with across the wider organisation.
Manage forecasting and pipeline by utilizing the CRM to manage, track, and report on all sales activities; provide, accurate, detailed forecasts for your territory
Work collaboratively with all business partners (customer service, technical service, marketing and project management, etc.) to handle customer requests
Carrying out any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post, as required
Qualifications
Experience / Education:
Minimum of BA/BS in Life Science
Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in CGT/ Biotech/ Pharmaceutical technology development and translational, research, development and/or manufacturing
Significant experience in business development and selling services related to innovative platform technologies
Significant experience assessing and structuring licensing terms related to novel technology and negotiating licensing terms
Demonstrated experience of success selling non-GMP Discovery services
Entrepreneurial spirit, assertive, and can manage abstract commercial situations. Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, highly flexible, with excellent communications skills (verbal, written, and presentation skills). Must be organized and detailed-oriented
Ability to understand highly technical concepts and then explain these and their benefits to others
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Familiar with Salesforce and proficient with MS Office Products including; Outlook, PowerPoint, Project and Excel are required.
