Description
We are offering a contract for a permanent position as an Accountant in the non-profit industry, located in Saint Paul, Minnesota. As an Accountant, you'll work closely with the team to maintain and produce financial records through the centralized financial software systems. You will support the Manager by providing essential financial information and aid leadership in meeting their regulatory reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately verify, approve, and post transactions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger for clients.
• Conduct monthly reconciliations of expense, revenue, and balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with the review of client financial information and contribute to the preparation of monthly executive financial reports for various entities.
• Participate in planning, budgeting, and fulfilling internal controls and regulatory mandates.
• Handle daily operations for clients, including processing and posting of accounts payable invoices, recording tuition and other A/R entries, and reviewing and posting collection and other cash receipts.
• Ensure that all processing, verifications, approvals, and postings adhere to internal control expectations.
• Conduct monthly reconciliation of revenue, expense, and balance sheet accounts, prepare adjusting journal entries, payroll journals, and other as required.
• Prepare month-end client financial reports for distribution.
• Assist in the preparation of the client annual budget, provide financial data and analysis to project trends on income and expense.
• Participate in the preparation of the annual financial report for presentation to client and leadership.
• Participate in audit processes as needed, provide client financial information during fieldwork and other phases of the audit.
• Assist the Operation Manager in analyzing client financial data.
• Participate in client General Ledger COA meetings to discuss the nature of expenses and other financial management updates.
• Assist in developing financial matrices for use in benchmarking the financial capabilities.

Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the non-profit sector
• Proficiency in preparing monthly financial reports
• Demonstrated experience with account reconciliation, including bank account reconciliation
• Ability to record and manage journal entries and general journals
• Experience in performing month-end journal entries
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel for financial tasks and data management
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is preferred
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity.
