BAE Systems Air Traffic Control Engineering Technician III/IV (ACLS Technician) in Saint Inigoes, Maryland
Job Description
The selected candidate will be part of a dynamic team providing technical and engineering services to the Automatic Carrier Landing System AN/SPN-46 (ACLS) worldwide. Will apply engineering techniques, principles and precedents to develop, modify, install, test, evaluate, or operate electronic equipment/systems. These skills will also be used in reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation and drawings, development of technical manuals, test plans and procedures. Responsibilities will also include maintenance, repair, inspection or troubleshooting of electronic equipment/systems, flight test support and fleet support. Will be required to travel up to 25% worldwide in support of Air Traffic Control Systems. BAE Systems seeks people who are self-starters and who have experience with working in small teams.
Will provide onsite and distance technical assistance to the fleet in support of the AN/SPN-46(V) Automatic Carrier Landing System (ACLS). Will work as part of a team to accomplish AN/SPN-46(V) Category I, II and III Certification Testing aboard CVN's and assist with installations of system upgrades, including conducting System Operational Verification Testing (SOVT).
The hourly rate for this position is set by the Dept of Labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $28.79 (Tech III) / $35.64 (Tech IV). Leveling will be determined at the time of interview.
This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in St. Mary's County, near to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Associate degree in Electronic or Engineering Technology OR High School diploma and completion of US Navy Electronics C School or equivalent
4-6 years of experience in troubleshooting and repair of electronic systems aboard US Navy Aircraft Carriers
Experience using, reviewing, writing, and updating technical documentation such as test plans, maintenance and assembly procedures, schematics, technical manuals, drawings, and wire lists
Knowledge on the proper use of common and specialty hand tools, general purpose electronic test equipment (GPETE) and special purpose electronic test equipment (SPETE)
Ability and willingness to travel to CONUS/OCONUS locations (25%)
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
Military electronics training (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force or Coast Guard) in AN/SPN-, ASR-, SPS-, TPN-, TPS- or FPN- equipment
3 years of experience in ATC field service
Experience aboard US Aircraft Carriers in system troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, restoration, test and evaluation of Air Traffic Control Systems including the use of various types of test equipment
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
