The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an enjoyable and 
gratifying employment opportunity with our Agency. We are looking for a caring and motivated Paraprofessional to work with our deaf/hard-of-hearing students under the supervision of an Instructor for the Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing. This position is located in the St. George area.
The Paraprofessional assists a classroom instructor in working with deaf/hard-of-hearing students,who may have additional disabilities.
Principal Duties
As a Paraprofessional you will:
- Prepare teaching materials and tutor individual students under the supervision of the instructor.
- Communicate the progress of the students to the instructor.
- Perform such duties as may relate to the motivation and achievement of students in academic and skills areas.
- Assist with behavior interventions under the direction of the instructor.
- Assist with routine daily activities,i.e. bus duty,recess,lunch,bathroom,etc.;
- Provide support in a classroom environment by working directly with teachers and students.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Maintain calendars; schedules and coordinates appointments.
- Design and/or prepare training/instructional materials,teaching aids and devices.
Ideal Candidate The Ideal Candidate for this position will have:
- Practical knowledge of basic classroom techniques and organization.
- Signing skills preferred.
- Techniques for assisting and providing effective support to classroom instructors.
- Practical skills in working effectively with students.
- Safe and timely response to special classroom situations.
- Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.
- Communicate clearly and effectively.
- Enter,transcribe,record,store,or maintain information in either written or electronic form.
- Deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity,tact,and professionalism.
- Maintain strict confidentiality.
- Successful completion of criminal background check contingent upon employment.
