Position Title: Quality Control Inspector I

Reports To: Production Supervisor

Location: [St. Charles, MO]

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Assembler I is responsible for assembling and testing company products, typically within a clean room environment. This role specializes in certain products or processes and adheres to specific procedures to ensure high standards of quality. The position necessitates the use of hand tools, small power equipment, microscopes, and strong dexterity. Key responsibilities also include maintaining accurate inventory records, data entry, and practicing good housekeeping. Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Assembly: Assemble a diverse range of products using drawings and work instructions, ensuring they meet performance specifications.

  • Documentation: Complete all required documentation accurately and timely.

  • Microscopic Inspection: Use microscopes for inspecting items during assembly.

  • Inventory Management: Utilize the inventory management system (Kanban) for cycle counting and conducting physical inventory.

  • Material Handling: Perform material handling, receiving, and stocking of materials, and support sales coordination.

  • Clean Room Maintenance: Maintain clean room integrity using proper attire and adhering to cleanroom procedures.

  • Quality Standards Compliance: Adhere to product quality standards and standard operating procedures.

  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain work area, tools, equipment, and machines in a clean and orderly manner.

  • Chemical Handling: Prepare and handle chemicals safely for use in the clean room.

  • Equipment Operation: Set up and operate various equipment as required.

  • Team Support: Provide support and feedback to team leads and engineering.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety and health requirements and wear prescribed PPE.

  • Continuous Improvement: Apply 80/20, PLS, and continuous improvement principles, and make process improvement recommendations to management.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience/Skills:

  • At least one (1) year of manufacturing experience preferred; clean room experience is a plus.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Skilled in inspecting and manipulating small and delicate items using various tools.

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing operations and practices.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and teamwork skills.

  • Good decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to maintain high productivity on repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment.

Position Qualification Requirements:

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands:

  1. Frequent twisting, turning, reaching outward, sitting, handling/manipulating items, standing, and walking.

  2. Occasional climbing, crawling, reaching above shoulder, sitting, squatting, and typing.

  3. Frequently required to carry up to 10 pounds, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Push and pull up to 10 pounds constantly, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.

  4. Specific vision abilities required include concentrated attention, close vision, far vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus.

  5. Frequent exposure to induction machines which can interfere with electromagnetic devices such as pacemakers.

Working Conditions:

  1. Plant conditions (100%).

  2. Clean room environment (100%).

  3. Constant exposure to chemicals; frequent exposure to machinery and loud noises.

  • Computer, saws/drills, measuring tools (Vernier calipers, scale, micrometer), hand tools, fork truck, gauges, rivet gun, pneumatic tools, microscope.
