Food Process Solutions Welder I in Saginaw, Michigan
Job Summary The Welder I position is an entry level welder position. The Welder I will continue to learn how to fabricate, repair metal, weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment with the correct welding techniques. A Welder I status must be held for a minimum of six months.

Duties and Responsibilities • Ability to run and operate the Orbital machines independently • Ability to set up and maintain welder independently • Connects two pieces of stainless steel by heating to a temperature high enough to cause proper fusion • Fabricate and manufacture metal parts for assembly. • Follow blueprints to ensure exact specifications of output • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits. • Produce strong, clean welds. • Receive instruction through training and demonstrate progress in setup and finish welding. • Test output to ensure strength and tolerance of welds. • Perform other duties as assigned by Team Lead and/or Manager
Required Skills and Abilities • Attention to detail is extremely important • Ability to read blueprints and manufacture accordingly due to customer requirement • Basic knowledge of power tools ex. Maintain the grinder with cutoff, grind wheel and sand pad • Prior experience welding, preferably in a manufacturing environment • MIG welding and metal finishing preferred. • Must complete 200 pipes at a 90% efficiency along with an onsite FPS weld test • TIG welding required
Physical Requirements • Must learn to complete welds with both left and right hands • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, round, or overhead. • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. • Must be able to see details at close range. • Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time unassisted.
