Covenant HealthCare US:MI:SAGINAW DAY SHIFT PART TIME BENEFITED Summary: The Nuclear Medicine Technologist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under limited supervision, is responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing examination and for obtaining quality diagnostic examinations that will best demonstrate the anatomy or pathology being studied; assists in making the department run efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups (neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare. Prepares and administers diagnostic and therapeutic radioisotopes while complying with all NRC regulations Prepares patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects proper technical factors and operates equipment and accessories as directed. Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Assesses, plans, provides intervention and evaluates care for each patient based on their ages to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure. Obtains and verifies patient's clinical history, ensuring that information is documented and readily available to the interpreting physician in an accurate and timely manner. Evaluates images and data for technical quality, manipulates display parameters assuring proper identification is evident. Possesses the ability to differentiate artifacts from normal or pathologic processes and to recognize electronic equipment limitations. Provide appropriate interpretive worksheets for applicable examinations and perform a variety of post processing applications on NM data sets. Uses RIS (radiology information system) to update scheduling and billing records. Maintains flexibility to ensure department workload consistency. Demonstrates knowledge and practices safe handling of radioactive material, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Maintains the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements. Anticipates customer needs and provides services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff. Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems. Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Attends mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required. Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties (RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.) Performs other duties as assigned
