Description
A Medical Administrator, also known as a Healthcare Administrator or Medical Office Manager, manages the business activities of a healthcare facility like a hospital, nursing home, or medical practice. This can include both medical and administrative tasks.
Key tasks and responsibilities often include:
Managing the daily operations of a healthcare facility to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently.
Implementing and enforcing healthcare policies, regulations, and standards to maintain a high level of patient care.
Handling patient records, medical billing, and implementing health information systems ensuring confidentiality and in adherence to medical laws.
Coordinating and scheduling appointments, surgeries, and other clinical activities.
Overseeing recruitment, hiring, training, and evaluation of staff members.
Budgeting and financial planning, including managing patient fees and billing.
Liaising with medical and non-medical staff to ensure optimal patient services and satisfaction.
Ensuring compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws, and high ethical standards.
Managing contracts and relations with medical suppliers, insurance providers, or other industry services.
Analyzing and implementing ways to improve service and care, and sometimes handling complaints.
Requirements
The Medical Administrators require knowledge in health care administration, management principles, medical terminology, and current healthcare systems.
Degrees in health administration or health management preferred
Healthcare industry experience required
Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills are also vital.
