Job Description and Duties

The California Energy Commission seeks an Associate Energy Specialists, working title Associate Clean Transportation Specialist, in the Passenger Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Branch of the Fuels and Transportation Division.

Under supervision of the Program and Project Supervisor (PPS) in the Passenger Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Branch within Fuels and Transportation Division , the incumbent will independently perform responsible, varied and complex technical and analytical work at the full journeyperson level, related to: funding electric vehicle charging infrastructure and associated policies . This incumbent will be responsible for individual projects, transportation energy analysis, outreach and education development activities, and agreement management activities associated with the funding deployment in the PEVI Branch .

The incumbent will manage funding agreements and contracts and assist with solicitations. The primary set of tasks will be to ensure that grant recipients are meeting deliverables, staying on time and within scope, and providing appropriate invoices. They may conduct analytical studies, research, planning, and data assessment. The incumbent will gather, tabulate, and analyze data; prepare reports; review and analyze technical reports, papers, and correspondence; make public presentations; manage agreements and contracts; assist with solicitations; manage the tasks in the Scope of Work; and prepare correspondence.

Working Conditions

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location .

  • Demonstrated experience in data collection and analysis.

  • Proficiency on a personal computer and familiarity with word processing, database management, spreadsheets, models, and graphics.

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
