Job Description

In this role you will lead the introduction of new product (NPI), drawing change integration (CID) and support cost & producibility initiatives. In these capacities you will lead cross functional teams of process engineers, product engineers, quality engineers, and operations as well as partner with Engine Programs and Design Engineering teams. You will lead the teams to ensure NPI tollgates and milestones are met aligned with APQP phases. This also involves aligning NPI & Cost improvements to technology advancements and strategic investment initiatives. You will be expected to provide strategic guidance to manufacturing methods, part cost, producibility, and hard capacity consideration. This role involves strategic planning for the site in products.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for manufacturing approval on new product drawings (Designated DSR).

  • Determine cost & producibility for new products.

  • Site focal to Engine Programs and Design Engineering.

  • Lead NPI from Plant acceptance to full rate production status.

  • Own NPI Process Methodology plus APQP deliverables for new product initiatives.

  • Site focal for CID introduction and impact on Rutland products.

  • Provide site leadership communication on new product initiatives and future NPI.

  • Provide site leadership communication on engine program long term forecasts.

  • Provide technical recommendation for process selection on new hardware.

  • Provide mentorship, coaching and teaching in these areas of responsibility.

  • Key contributor in vision and execution of NPI strategy.

  • Lead activities to improve and achieve producibility, including formal producibility reviews, APQP elements, and up-front partnership with Design as early as possible in the development phases.

  • Partnership with Compressor Airfoils Lean Lab for support and transition of NPI programs to the Rutland site.

  • Build and maintain close partnership with design engineers and engine program leadership to understand & achieve design requirements according to engine schedules and budgets.

  • Within the framework of NPI drive standardization of design and manufacturing processes across product families.

  • Be a focal point for new blade and vane technology development in partnership with Design and Global Research Center.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university + minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience

  • Prior demonstrated success in leading improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost together (SQDC)

  • Experience related to compressor blade and vane manufacturing processing.

  • In-depth knowledge of GE Aerospace Product Drawings and specification requirements.

  • Previous experience with compressor airfoils fixture and gauging concepts.

  • Demonstrated Critical Path NPI program management experience.

  • Change in Design (CID) evaluation/incorporation process knowledge.

  • Strong manufacturing operations background.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
