The I/E Maintenance Engineer is a 12-month contract position working on-site for our Specialty Chemical Client located in Port Neches, TX.
This role manages design, change management, installation, and repairs for instrumentation, control valves, motors, switchgear, motor control centers, and transformers. The engineer collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and operations to develop design and installation packages and oversees Management of Change (MOC) and turnaround scope development.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide technical support for maintenance, operations, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) asset management plans.
Audit and improve PM programs to enhance equipment reliability.
Support turnaround and inspection (TandI) scope development.
Investigate high-impact incidents and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
Identify and mitigate bad actor equipment failures.
Provide leadership on instrumentation and electrical system modifications and capital projects.
Ensure projects align with site standards, maintainability, and reliability requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technicians, engineers, and operators.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems.
Participate in company training and safety initiatives.
Job Requirements: BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent required 0-2 years IandE Maintenance or Reliability Engineering experience required, 5 years IandE Maintenance or Reliability Engineering experience preferred TWIC - Must have or be able to obtain TWIC card Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs Knowledge of control systems including control valves, transmitters, pneumatic and electronic instrumentation, PLC/DCS, etc. Basic understanding of engineering, purchasing, accounting and construction practices and maintenance workflows Strong communication and documentation skills Knowledge of risk-based work prioritization methodology Knowledge of economic evaluation methods (Life-Cycle Cost Analysis, NPV, Benefit/Cost) Knowledge in Reliability Centered Maintenance or some form of Asset Management Plan Development is desired
Top 3 Must-Have Skills: 1. BSEE or equivalent required, experience preferred (ideally at a petrochemical plant) 2. Technical troubleshooting/root cause analysis 3. Self-motivation
