Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital opened on Jan. 24, 1955 as a 238-bed community hospital. Scope of work 

Under the supervision of a Registered Respiratory Therapist, provides care to patients with acute and chronic illness by administering various therapeutic modalities and by providing reinforcement for the education and instruction developed in the patient care plan. Follows the patient care plan as developed by the registered respiratory therapist, adhering to protocols for the delivery of medication and oxygen setups/titration. Set up and monitor patients placed on non-invasive ventilation (depending on site). Equipment processing, including high level disinfection of reusable supplies, oxygen tank maintenance, replenishing of par levels as needed. Performs chart review for verification of orders; provide electronic documentation; provide reinforcement of patient and family education.

Qualifications

  • Required Current enrollment in a Respiratory Therapy degree program.

  • Required To work as an RCA, selected candidates must successfully complete training modules and competency check offs (tailored to their scope of practice) developed by the department.

  • Required Incumbent will be re-evaluated in two years if graduation did not occur.

  • Completed the basic therapy clinical rotation in the employee’s perspective college program. Required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association or ARC American Red Cross required
