Job Title: Systems Engineer
Job Description
The systems engineering focus is support to unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms and unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate must be able to develop requirements, create system design documentation, utilize and maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements. This role requires cradle-to-grave experience, involving all phases of the project from definition, design, and testing.
Responsibilities
Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements, decompose requirements, derive requirements, and allocate requirements to system and subsystem elements.
Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.
Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.
Develop test plans, test cases, and reports based on requirements documentation.
Develop system and subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.
Lead and conduct testing as applicable.
Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.
Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.
Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
5 - 7 years of industry experience.
Experience developing system requirements and architecture in conjunction with the engineering team.
Self-directed with sharp analytical abilities.
Excellent communication skills.
Capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment.
Technical leadership capabilities.
Results-oriented with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry.
Experience in aircraft is a must; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus.
A U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher (or the ability to obtain such a clearance if needed).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Exposure to schematics and Cameo.
Experience with operational test execution.
Experience with tools such as DOORS, Altassian, and requirements management tools.
Experience with UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Experience in electrical and mechanical engineering.
Experience working in a hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop environment.
Work Environment
In Dallas, candidates need strong software and hardware test experience to support embedded development teams. The environment includes both SCIF and traditional facilities. Candidates stronger in testing are preferred in OKC or Sacramento. The role involves 25% travel, up to 2 weeks at a time, to locations such as California (Antelope Valley area), Sacramento, Oklahoma, North Dakota, and potentially Alabama.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
