Your Role

At Kuehne+Nagel in Rotterdam, we offer a dynamic and educational internship within our Sea Logistics department. Here, you will have the opportunity to learn about the various aspects of sea freight and logistics, working alongside a team of professionals who specialize in managing complex and specialized shipments. There are various internship opportunities available across the different departments we have. Below is a brief description to give you an idea of what we do:

Your Responsibilities

Departments within Sea Logistics:

1. Operational Care Center (OCC):

• Documentation: responsible for accurately and timely preparing and managing all necessary transport documents. This includes bills of lading, customs documents, and certificates.

• Reefer: specialized in the transport of temperature-sensitive goods. The team ensures the proper conditions during the transport of items such as food, pharmaceuticals, and flowers.

• Booking Desk: manages the bookings of freight shipments and ensures efficient planning and coordination of transports. They maintain contact with customers and carriers to ensure shipments are executed on time and as agreed.

• Customs: responsible for handling customs formalities and complying with all relevant laws and regulations. The team ensures that shipments pass through customs quickly and without issues.

• Revenue Care: focuses on optimizing revenue through accurate billing and cost management. They analyze financial data and ensure correct handling of payments and expenses.

2. CCL (Customer Care): Provides support and service to customers, answering questions and resolving issues. The team ensures excellent customer satisfaction through proactive communication and quick solutions.

3. ISC (Integrated Supply Chain): Responsible for integrating various logistics services to create a seamless and efficient supply chain. They coordinate between different departments and external partners to optimize logistics processes.

4. Sales: Focuses on attracting new customers and maintaining relationships with existing ones. The team develops sales strategies and works closely with other departments to understand and fulfill customer needs.

5. ZSM (Processes & Systems): Responsible for developing and improving logistics processes and systems. They analyze current practices and implement new technologies and methods to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of operations.

6. Trade: Manages trade routes and ensures efficient and cost-effective movement of goods worldwide. They analyze market trends and develop strategies to optimize trade activities.

7. Project Logistics: Responsible for managing large, complex, or specialized shipments, such as oversized cargo or equipment, requiring customized transport solutions. They coordinate multimodal transport, risk assessments, and route planning. Their expertise ensures successful delivery of project-specific cargo while adhering to time and budget constraints. They handle Marine as well as Air shipments.

Your Skills and Experiences

• Educational Background: currently enrolled in a relevant MBO/HBO study in Business Administration, Logistics, Commercial Economics, or a similar field.

• Logistics Knowledge: basic understanding of logistics processes and sales is a plus.

• Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication skills in both Dutch and English, with a customer-oriented and proactive attitude.

• Team Player: Thrive in a collaborative environment with a positive and flexible mindset. Capable of working independently and responsibly, always eager to learn and continuously improve.
