General Purpose:

Apply principles of accounting to perform month-end close tasks, prepare and review financial statements, complete financial data analysis and reporting, perform account reconciliation, and trouble-shoot accounting-related issues. Perform activities related to journal entries, variance analysis, budgeting, forecasting, inventory valuation, reconciliation, and sales analysis. Work independently with moderate direction.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or assist in the completion of the monthly accounting close process and ensure that all journal entries for assigned areas are timely, accurate, and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare assigned monthly journal entries and account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner and ensure appropriate supporting documentation for each.
  • Support SSC AP where applicable for review of GL coding, audit receiving process for timely completion and audit open PO report.
  • Prepare all month end AP accruals to include milk and freight accrual / analysis
  • Manage site Credit Card program and ensure compliance
  • Manages Fixed Asset and Depreciation and coordinate communication with plant management.
  • Prepare Federal Market monthly report.
  • Prepare Milk Accrual for monthly posting.
  • Plant Spend tracking and review of GL coding.
  • Assist with plant budget process.
  • Complete intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Support adherence to DFA policies and audit of internal control.

Travel Requirements:

5-15% (1-3 times a year)


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting CPA/CMA preferred but not required.
  • 3-5 years' experience in accounting
  • Proficient with spreadsheets
  • Experience in a manufacturing plant is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of Accounting principles
  • Experience with ERP systems JDE preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP (Genreally accepted accounting principles)
  • Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems, specifically Excel.
  • Analytical skills including the ability to reconcile problematic accounts.
  • Able to work with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently on tasks or projects after a brief explanation of the desired results.
  • Able to work independently in an office or remote working environment.
  • Able to organize time, energy, and resources effectively to achieve goals (i.e. organizational skills)
  • Able to work with a sense of urgency and within deadlines
  • Able to take ownership for assigned projects and see through to completion
  • Able to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
