Material/Process Inspector I and IIPerforms advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrenceEssential Duties:Material/Process Inspector ICoordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliers.Drives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses and project sites to monitor status of programs, meet with supervisors and managers to resolve problems and perform unannounced inspection of operations.Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports.Trains and assists other inspectors and private sector employees and provides project specification information.Handles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectors.Informs plant personnel of material or production problems, rejects substandard material and assists in determining cause for material problems.Investigates compaction problems associated with hot mix asphaltic concrete.Maintains and calibrates equipment.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Material/Process Inspector IIIncludes all essential duties listed for Material/Process Inspector I as well as:Handles problem calls from producers, suppliers, inspectors and construction project field personnel.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
