This role will support the creation of the US Foods Fleet sustainability strategic roadmap using knowledge of the asset management industry, strategic sourcing, vendor management and innovative sustainability practices applicable to the Fleet organization. This role will partner with cross-functional teams to establish an executable sustainability plan and communicate changes effectively.

Flexible Work Policy: The Manager, Fleet Sustainability Innovation & Planning position has been segmented as Hybrid, meaning the work is a combination of onsite and virtual. This position is based out of our corporate headquarters in Rosemont, IL.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the key partners to create an actionable strategy and roadmap for alternative fuel, ensuring appropriate considerations are applied (i.e., timing, impacted locations, union and non-union, total cost of ownership etc.)

• Define and establish vendor management and strategic sourcing practices specific to Fleet electric vehicles, equipment, and parts, incorporating market led industry insights related to new technologies and/or suppliers

• Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to recommend a capital plan that supports sustainability projects and programs

• Assess current operating procedures, materials, and methods, anticipate and implement changes or modifications based on sustainability goals, and perform lifecycle assessments and cost analyses of proposed modifications

• Recommend, establish & communicate metrics & key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive actionable outcomes, highlighting trends & deviations that drive insights and would require strategic planning changes

• Create and manage the socialization, executive communications, and change management plan to outline sustainability capital planning needs and ensure preparedness and the appropriate buy in

• Influence the Fleet P&L opportunities by investigating practices that minimize waste, reduce the corporation’s carbon footprint, and maximize efficiency

• Other duties as assigned by manager

SUPERVISION:

• Direct supervision of a team of 2 Sr Analysts focused on sustainability planning

RELATIONSHIPS

• Internal: Facilities, Field Operations, Network Optimization, Routing, Safety, Legal, Finance

• External: Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Suppliers, Vendors, Labor Planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of work experience in strategy, finance, supply chain, logistics, and/or sustainability, or equivalent experience

• Demonstrated experience with electrification of vehicles, utilities, infrastructure, or equipment

• 2 years vendor and/or supplier management

• Experience managing teams and leading through influence

• Knowledge of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices related to sustainability innovation and planning, preferably in the foodservice or transportation industry

• Deep understanding of sustainability principles and practices

• Continuous Improvement mindset focused on finding ways to drive innovation

• Organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and people at once while delivering strong results

• Skilled at translating business objectives into financial impacts and needs

• Creative approach to risk diagnosis and mitigation

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power Bi, Tableau and/or other reporting tools, with the ability to present clear and concise information to key stakeholders

• Travel to up to 25% of the time to distribution centers or other facilities based on sustainability goals

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in business operations, supply chain, finance, sustainability, economics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years vendor and/or supplier management in fleet or asset management

• Advanced degree in sustainability, environmental sciences, or a related field
