We’re seeking a talented Instrumentation Engineer III to join our dynamic team. In this role, you’ll leverage your knowledge of instrumentation engineering to design, test, and validate innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. Working alongside some of the world’s most talented engineers, you’ll play a critical role in delivering Honeywell’s next generation of products.
LOCATION: Preferred location is Tulsa, OK. Will consider Des Plaines or Rosemont, IL (Chicagoland) or Houston, TX.

The annual base salary range for this position is $86,400 - $125,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review and annotate Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) to ensure accuracy and accordance with project specifications.
• Prepare and review the Instruments Index, providing a comprehensive design summary as required.
• Develop and/or evaluate instrument data sheets, manage requisitions, and conduct technical bid evaluations for various instrumentation equipment.
• Create and/or review detailed design drawings and documents, including hook-up diagrams, instrument plans, Bill of Materials (BOM), and wiring diagrams.
• Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams and project groups to ensure cohesive project execution.
• Conduct specification reviews, identifying any exceptions or areas requiring clarification.
• Exchange essential task-level information between team members and departments.
• Identify and communicate incidents of non-compliance and propose actionable recommendations to resolve issues.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) at vendor facilities and conduct inspections at project sites to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Prepare or revise reports and documentation as necessary throughout the project lifecycle.
• Utilize computer-assisted design tools and software effectively in project tasks.
• Execute assigned project tasks diligently, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards.
• Identify opportunities for technical improvements within processes and designs.
YOU MUST HAVE:
•Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution within a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
•3+ years of experience 3 years as an instrumentation engineer in oil and gas, chemical, EPC, or large engineering firms, with expertise in P&ID review and preparation for compliance.
•3+ years of experience in preparing data sheets and generating purchase requisitions for a variety of instrumentation equipment
WE VALUE:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Electrical, Electronics, or Chemical Engineering.
•Proven experience in creating instrumentation data sheets, generating purchase requisitions, and preparing wiring and schematic diagrams for equipment such as transmitters, valves, analyzers, and cables.
•Expertise in developing and reviewing detailed engineering specifications and drawings, including Instrument Index, Instrument Location Plans, Cable Schedules, Installation Details (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic), and Cable Tray/Conduit Routing Plans.
•Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with external suppliers and clients, providing technical support and guidance.
•Familiarity with relevant codes and regulations, such as the National Electrical Code (NEC), European standards, and other international requirements for electrical and instrumentation equipment.
•Knowledge of ISA standards or equivalent standards in other regions.
•Understanding of testing, certification, and marking requirements for instrumentation equipment in electrically classified areas.
•Experience with electrical and control system design.
