Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Support portions of licensing activities (certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses associated with reactor technologies) and ensure milestones are met as agreed with the U.S. NRC.
  • Provide licensing support to engineers in developing technical requirements that will ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance.
  • Support scope development of the annual regulatory engagement plan, lead regulatory audits and responses to RAIs (Requests for Additional Information).
  • Develop licensing content to support portions of Safety Analysis Reports and licensing applications.
  • Support planning and executing the X-energy licensing strategy.
  • Develop regulatory white papers, technical reports, and licensing topical reports.
  • Support development of licensing plans and associated budgets.
  • Actively support the X-energy safety culture and ensure integration of quality in licensing processes as informed by the X-energy Quality Assurance Program.
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.
  • Lead the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, without close supervision and some latitude for independent judgment.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to more junior team members with the execution of the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or science (e.g. mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics) or other related area.

  • Typically, ten years of relevant licensing experience.

  • Experience in direct NRC interactions (written and/or verbal).

  • Understanding of the nuclear regulatory processes in the United States.

  • Experience in project management related to developing schedules and coordinating team activities to produce technical content for regulatory purposes.

  • Experience with Civil/Structural licensing, preferred, OR experience with Safety Analysis licensing and advance reactor licensing, preferred.
