VES, LLC Software Engineer - Persistence in Rockaway, New Jersey

At VES, we're not just building software; we're shaping the future.You'll be working on the Persistence team which is responsible for the persistence layer of AXS. This team develops a runtime extensible Spring Boot microservice that exposes REST-based and message-based APIs that hide the persistence-level implementation details. The persistence teams utilize code generation techniques to more quickly handle data model updates that are provided from the System Engineering Team. This team utilizes the Java Persistence API (JPA) for database updates and retrievals when working with the PostgreSQL/PostGIS relational database.ABOUT VES, LLCWe are a small business headquartered out of Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. We offer highly competitive pay, generous benefits, and a friendly work culture.General Job Duties:Build Java-based services that enable users to manage tactical data supporting a Common Operating Picture and Fire Support capabilitiesBuild and maintain reusable components as part of our service layerDevelop, test, and manage software as directed and determined by the project leadDevelop software leveraging Spring Java FrameworkDevelop software leveraging Java Swing to create window-based applications and reusable componentsWork on efforts where there's a core team delivering capabilities to other development teams to extend and integrate.Work on applications and components that integrate with COTS messaging solutions such as RabbitMQMaintain and improve the performance of existing software solutionsClearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleaguesRecommend improvements to existing software solutions as necessaryWork closely with the customer and other stakeholders to understand requirements and design software solutions to meet their needs.Required Skills:Experience developing RESTful services using the Spring FrameworkExperience with PostgreSQL and PostGISExperience with Geospatial databasesExperience with JPA and HibernateSolid problem-solving and debugging ability.
