You will assist the surgical team by acting as the primary scrub tech who handles the instruments, supplies and equipment during surgical procedures, ensuring sterilization at every point of the process.STATUS: Part Time LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital DEPARTMENT: Operating Room (OR)SCHEDULE: Primarily Day/Evening, with on-call which may include overnights, Weekends, HolidaysATTRIBUTESCompleted a military surgical technology program -OR-Grand-Fathering Clause: Provides evidence he or she was employed as a surgical technologist in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year, occurring between 12/31/10 - 12/31/14. -OR-Graduated from a Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)- or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)- accredited program with a Surgical Technology major AND holds and maintains Certified Surgical Technologist certification from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)within 12 months of graduation.* Surgical Technologist Certification is not required for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) with current licensure in the State of New YorkRESPONSIBILITIESCME maintenance. Must maintain at least 15 hours of Continuing Medical Education (CME) per yearSupply check & sterilization. Ensure all supplies, instrumentation and equipment are available and sterilized for surgical procedures and proper operationOrientation. Assist in guiding medical/nursing students and technicians to the unitDraping & maintenance. Assist with draping procedures and demonstrates vigilance in maintaining overall sterility in the operation roomUnit development. Help identify goals and objectives of the unitPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.PAY RANGE: $26.50 - $32.50 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
